Farafina Institute's Annual Planning Meeting - Brief Report

The meeting of the Board of Directors took place at a crucial time when Farafina is strategizing its establishment of branch offices in different African countries and is targeting its consolidation and activities in Germany and Europe to currently relevant issues.

The board reviewed the 2015 activities, discussed and approved the work plan for 2016 and the relating objectives.

During this year Farafina has fruitfully worked on a couple of challenging projects, namely:

• Transformative Social Change and Resource Governance in African Resource-Rich Economies of the Gulf of Guinea - A comparative perspective on Angola, Nigeria, DR Congo and Côte d'Ivoire. (in partnership with the TUM Technische Universität München, Chair of Land Management)

• Empowering Young People of African Origin for Political Participation in Europe (in partnership with AKOMA Bildung & Kultur and African & Caribbean Diversity).

In order to strengthen the representation and establishment process in African countries and at the same time work efficiently at the German base office, a new Board of Directors was constituted with the following roles:

Kocra L. Assoua: Chairman

Lamine Doumbia: Vice Chairman and Africa Coordinator

Claudia Koehler: Executive Director

Vincenzo Grauso: Deputy Executive Director and ICT Director

Peter Narh: Director for Research

In the new organigramm Farafina has foreseen the post of Director of Project Acquisition. With this regard, some suitable candidates are under evalutation. The appointment shall soon follow.
